In the light of our business policy, Igmat is actively involved in the economy conditions and certification requirements of construction products after the entry of Slovenia in the European Union. We did our best and upon the proposal of the Ministry of the Economy of the Republic of Slovenia, were in March 2004 nominated by the European Commission as a notified body for the Construction Products Directive (CPD, 89/106/EEC). The number of our nomination is 1373. This granted IGMAT the authority to award certificates on conformity of the factory production control according to system 2+.

In the Official Journal of the European Union was published the Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2011 laying down harmonised conditions for the marketing of construction products and repealing Council Directive 89/106/EEC. The Regulation is used entirely since July 1, 2013.

The nomination granted Igmat international recognition of its professional competence and an equal position among similar European institutions and therefore Igmat can carry out the procedure of Assessment and Verification of Constancy of Performance to get a CE marking, for Slovene and foreign building material producers who wish to put on the European Union market, whereby the Regulative requires participation of a notified external institution for certification.

Since its first nomination Igmat has expanded its range of certification activities on different systems of certification and various construction products, such as aggregates, concrete and concrete bricks, chimneys, asphalts, waterproofing materials, lintels, bitumens and bituminous emulsions, surface dressings, mortars, precast concrete products, gully tops and manhole tops, waste water engineering products outside buildings, traffic signs, etc.

Igmat performs certification activities also in regulated non-harmonized areas, for which it also obtained notification from the sector ministry in accordance with national legislation (ZGPro-1).For non-regulated, voluntary certification areas, Igmat awards a voluntary certificate, designated by the IGMAT conformity mark.
